TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 1st through 6th grade on the west side of Chicago for the last 13 years. I love the challenge of self contained, but have also taught middle school social studies and math.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My students learn best when learning has meaning and in a context they can relate to their lives. I work to plan units of student that are driven by a guiding questions, standards, and an opportunity to create a final product that will impact the world. I also know that students thrive when their social emotional needs are met, so we always start with a greeting and a check-in.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Nationally Board Certified 2017 Chicago Foundation for Education, Teacher of the Year 2015 EL Education Klingenstein Teacher Award, Finalist 2019 Master Class Presentations at ELeducation National Conference 2019, 2016, 2013, 2014

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelors of Science in Education 2008, Central Michigan University Master of Education in Curriculum Design & Instruction, 2012 Nationally Board Certified 2017
