I've been teaching for 16 years. Prior to my current position in a New York City public school, I taught for 4 wonderful years in private schools around the borough of Queens. I currently teach ESL but I have been an instructor at many grade levels and subject areas, including a gifted program and Adjunct Professor of the NYC Teaching Fellows at the college level.
I'd say my teaching style is diverse and ever-evolving! I truly believe that the best teacher is one who not only learns with her students, but continues to develop professionally by constantly pushing herself to acquire new knowledge. I wouldn't say I prescribe to one single style, but instead try new things out and use what works best for my students.
Although not a specific award, I was chosen to have the District Attorney of the United States, Eric Holder, visit my classroom during a tour of our school! It was very exciting and quite a learning experience!
I have a dual Bachelor's Degree in International Studies and Literature and a minor in Italian, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Children's Literature and I am certified to teach English as a Second Language.
