TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Train your word wizards in the ancient arts of linking symbols to sounds and transmitting thoughts and ideas through time and space.

Use the Magic Shapes handwriting resources to learn how to create the symbols. Every letter has been deconstructed into basic shapes that can be used to develop fine motor skills and pencil practice.

These familiar shapes can then be linked together to create letters and then words.

Use the Magic Sounds resources to help children learn how to combine letters into different sounds.

Monster Punctuation resources provide creative writing challenges to help children develop writing skills by loving to write!

The I Can Spell series features writing activities with fun themes.

I also help schools create illustrated story books with the stories4schools programme that have been sent to children living in some of the poorest countries in the world.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe people learn best when they are inspired to take an interest in what they are learning and this happens when teachers are inspired themselves.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I established a national youth programme for over ten years and worked with children and young people in some of the most deprived areas of the UK to help them develop their skills by organising local community activities.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I supported volunteers to work with schools and children's projects in East and Southern Africa where we helped children and teachers develop literacy programmes.
