TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught for eight years before taking a break to stay at home with my kids and tutor. I taught 3rd and 4th grade. I was self-contained as well as departmentalized. For most of my years in the classroom, I taught reading, writing, and social studies. I also was the writing chair for my school for a few years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in incorporating as much hands-on learning opportunities as possible into lessons. Instruction should focus on the needs of students in the classroom, so I differentiated instruction often. My lessons are student-centered and data-driven. Learning should also always include fun; therefore, my style is to keep students engaged and focused on learning simultaneously.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I struggled in elementary school. I stayed back in second grade because I wasn’t able to read more than a few words. I didn’t have good teachers until fourth grade when my teacher Mrs. Moseley changed my education outlook. Those years of struggling helped me develop strategies for struggling readers like myself.
