I created this project for our non-fiction unit with the theme "Natural Disasters" and as a review of our study of figurative language. Students were required to research a natural disaster and write both a literal and figurative description of it.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I completed my student teaching in both Social Studies and Language Arts in a suburban school outside of Charlotte, NC. I am currently teaching one Advanced, one "regular," and two inclusion-EC Language Arts classes at a Title 1 school in the Piedmont of NC. I miss teaching Social Studies, but E/LA is where my heart is. As my best friend (who also teaches middle school English) says... I want to teach life through literature.

MY TEACHING STYLE

A a little bit of "workshop," a little bit of "project-based," a lot of Bloom's, and a whole lot of fun.
