TEACHING EXPERIENCE

4 Summers as an English Teacher with the Breakthrough Collaborative 2 years as a student teacher in the NYC DOE working with ENL students

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to talk at the beginning and then move around the room as students work through group activities using carefully-designed organizers. If a student presents an unusual idea, I like to see where it goes.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

First and foremost, I believe in the power of play. I read a lot of comics, play a lot of games, and am always trying to figure out how to better incorporate these forms into the classroom. In working with English Language Learners, it is especially important to approach literacy from many angles, and I'm always looking for new ideas.
