TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My name is Jordan DeWilde and I have been teaching art for over 5 years in Illinois. I love introducing students to a diverse variety of artists. My classroom mission statement is, "Great art has been made by men and women of different races, cultures, and communities throughout history. My mission is to teach you that art is for everyone!" I hope you find my projects enjoyable for your students as well.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My lessons focus on student choice while introducing students to artists and cultures from around the world, from ancient times to the contemporary. As an elementary art teacher, I believe it's important to give students a great variety of experiences and perspectives, so they can connect with at least one process or artist.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I received the Illinois State Board of Education Those Who Excel Award of Excellence for Early Career Educator in 2016. I presented lessons and topics at numerous Illinois Art Education Association conferences from 2010-2017.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Masters of Science in Art Education from Illinois State University, 2012. Bachelors of Science in Broadcasting with a double major in Art Studio from Western Illinois University, 2009.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I live in Rockford, Illinois and teach at Oregon Elementary School in Oregon, Illinois.
