Like many of you, I've had a wide variety of experience! I currently teach freshman and sophomores at an Ohio public school, but I also spent four years working as an adjunct professor teaching intro composition courses, as well as intro literature and creative writing courses. In addition, I've tutored in group homes and juvenile detention centers, and I even spent a year in West Africa teaching language arts to middle school students!
I'm always trying to invent creative ways to help students analyze, process, and relate to reading and writing. I emphasize close reading and rereading, because I think the more a student is pushed to interact with a text the more that student will learn to APPRECIATE that text once the work is over. I love The Scarlet Ibis! I love To Kill a Mockingbird! I love Of Mice and Men! Because I'm so passionate about great literature, I work hard to develop materials that will foster that same passion in students.
I've had a number of articles on teaching and pieces of creative writing published in a variety of small press publications.

I love reading, writing, teaching, reading and writing about teaching, film, running, and spending time with my wife and two children! I want a dog but I don't have time for one, so I'm going to wait until my children are older and then I'll make them take care of it! I'm in my early thirties, and I love exclamation points!
