Currently, I'm a high school administrator and university instructor. I've taught in a junior high school for ten years. During this time I've taught courses in English (general and honors), reading, and ESL English. I was selected to be a Common Core trainer for Utah's Common Core academy and have taught professional development within my school and district on topics relating to literacy, reading, writing, and ESL strategies.
I'm all about questions. Research, investigation, and analysis begins with questions. Regardless of what we're learning, reading, or writing in my class, we start with questions. In addition, I believe that learning happens within a sociocultural context so teachers must provide sufficient scaffolds to support the acquisition, analysis, and synthesis of new knowledge. Finally, I believe that text plays a large role in whatever we learn and students need time to engage with texts constantly.

I have a BA in English, a Masters of Education in Teaching and Learning, and a PhD in educational leadership. My dissertation was in teacher collaborative networks, formal and informal collaboration, and teacher collaboration in Finland.
I don't check this site much anymore and have changed all of my materials to free.
