I have taught students with Moderate Intellectual Disabilities at the high school level (grade 9 through age 21) as well as the elementary level (grades 4 and 5). I have also taught students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities at the elementary level (age 5 through grade 5) as well as at the high school level (grades 9 through age 21).
I use a combination of best practices for students with Autism, a token economy based on positive reinforcement, and a multisensory and high independence approach. My goal is always to get students interacting appropriately, rotating through stations self-sufficiently, and engaging meaningfully with classroom content.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Education for students with moderate to intense disabilities from Ohio University.
I have taught in rural Ohio, urban South Carolina, and in all kinds of places around Atlanta. For several years I taught high school students, before moving down to the elementary level. I am now teaching English and Science in a Mild Intellectual Disabilities classroom at the high school level.
