I have been a teacher in New York for 10 years. I have taught in suburban as well as urban schools. My experience has also taken me to an alternative school for 4 years. I have taught at every level from 7th grade to 11th grade. Currently I am teaching United States History to 7th graders.
I use the America's Choice model for classroom instruction. Every class includes an opening mini-lesson. This is followed by a work period. Finally the class comes together for a closing discussion or activity. I utilize multiple research based strategies and the common core learning standards are grounded in all of my lessons.
