TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For the past 5 years, I have taught 7th grade ELA in Chicago, IL. Prior to teaching, I worked with second and sixth graders throughout the city of Chicago. Additionally, I've worked with ninth graders in Cleveland Ohio while serving in the Americorp organization City Year, working with students struggling in one or more subject areas.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to define my teaching style as "structurally democratic." I believe that the classroom is a partnership, and students are people/partners first, and students second. Because of this, I like to cultivate a classroom space that caters to student voice and movement, while also giving them structure to ensure a successful environment, and ways to learn from choices that disrupt that space and success opportunity.
