I have been a certified teacher of secondary education in the state of Rhode Island since 1995. My credentials and endorsements are in History, Social Studies, Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology. I have primarily been teaching for various departments at the Rhode Island School of Design in the fields of print and web design, as well as design history since 2001.
All my classes are project oriented. I tend to demonstrate for the first half of class and leave the 2nd half for work time. I believe that in order for students to have ownership of material they must create something of their own and be allowed the freedom to explore a topic within the structure of an organized goal. Beyond that I view myself as a guide and fellow observer, and I generally follow the principles of equality and anti-pedagogy put forth by Paolo Freire.
