TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Public school in Northville, MI for 10 years teaching math and physical science. Private college for 4 years as a math instructor and administrator.. Charter School for 1 year as math instructor. Private Religious K-12 school, 5 years as a math and physics instructor. Mr. Wizard,s (Don Herbert) science show assistant via EC Educational, inc. for 1 year.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Lecture for fifteen to thirty minutes about a subject that is interesting about the topic. Review history of the formulas related to the topic, and apply basic formulas to story problems in small groups. Complete one to three labs on the subject to help clarify the topic and view it in real life in different small groups. Review how the topic relates to life in today's society.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Metro-Detroit Science Teacher Association Outstanding Science Teacher of the Year, 2000. Art Institute of Michigan Faculty of the Quarter, 2008. The National Middle Level Science Teachers Association (NMLSTA) published my graduate research project, Investigation into the Cognitive Impact of Animal Presence in a Classroom, April 2003. My former teaching team at Hillside Middle School, comprised of ten middle school teachers, was presented the Michigan Association of Middle School Educators (MAMSE) Team of the Year Award in 2002 for outstanding cooperation, efficiency and collaboration as a team of teachers.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Participated in the Emmy winning "Teacher Town Hall" on PBS in Wixom, MI on November 19, 2011. I was co-awarded the Toyota Tapestry Grant in 2001 in partnership with the Detroit Zoo for a project that aligned with the needs of the “Amphibiville” exhibit.
