This is a great lab for introducing students to lab procedures and safety. I use this lab to welcome my 7th graders to the scientific process and lab safety procedures. The "Penny Lab" is one of those labs that is quite simple yet very effective.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently a 7th grade science teacher at a middle school in Ohio. I have previously taught both math and science in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to take a visual and kinesthetic approach to learning. I was not always the best at English or Language Arts through school, so I like to teach in a way that involves a lot of hands-on activities. Note taking is a necessity in the classroom, but that doesn't mean it has to be like pulling teeth! Every single one of my presentations comes with guided notes; this means students spend less time worrying about writing, and more time listening and being involved.
