TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My first teaching position was in a local college teaching Biology for majors to college freshmen. Soon after I discovered that my youngest child had a profound learning disability and would later become unsuccessful in the classroom. I chose to leave the classroom as a teacher and study her. Determined to understand why a seemingly bright child could not read was quite the endeavor. Once she was reading and ready to return to the classroom I returned too. This time I chose the high school level to explore. I learned so much by working with my daughter that I was eager to try some of my lessons and tactics on other children. I currently teach 180 students daily. I teach Forensic Science and AP Biology to High School Juniors and Seniors and Biology 1 to Freshman and Sophomores. I just love the challenges that come from teaching in an urban public schools system.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach in a multi-sensory style. I use lots of hands on activities and inquiry laboratories allowing students to explore science.
