I am an elementary Physical Education and Health teacher and have been working as a teacher in Colorado for 4 years. I love collaborating with physical education teachers from all grade levels and participating in professional development. My school is a STEM school (science, tech, engineering, math) and I am constantly finding ways to incorporate this into my program. Additionally, I am a Wellness leader at my school. I provide teachers with ideas for movement breaks, how to use movement to teach literacy and math, and provide general wellness information to staff and families. I lead a number of programs for my school including yoga, running club, and a winter activity club! In the spring I enjoy coaching high school track and field and in the summers I work at a rafting company leading paddle board trips!
I'm constantly looking for fun and new ways to teach PE! I believe it is my job to help students find their own value in physical activity. To do this, I offer a wide range of activities to help them find what they love! I also believe that utilizing 21st century skills is important to our students today. Not only as a means of engaging students and creating buy-in, but also to prepare them for our ever-changing world. Using technology and teaching those important skills will help our students be healthy AND successful for a lifetime! Having fun in PE, using good sportsmanship and communication skills and learning skills that will keep them active for a lifetime is what I strive to do everyday!
