An integral part of instilling a growth mindset in students is encouraging students to share their ideas... when they're right AND when they're WRONG. Encouraging and applauding wrong answers improves PARTICIPATION because students feel safe. Wrong

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

21 years of Teaching

MY TEACHING STYLE

I LOVE creating lessons!!! I spend hours on the internet scouring Pinterest, YouTube, EdPuzzle, WeVideo, Flipgrid, Padlet, and Socrative, as well as Google Docs, Slides, Forms and Keep. I incorporate songs, song lyrics, art, cartoons, memes, films, and video shorts. My 8th graders love my FUN, engaging, unique, and creative lessons. Teaching is the only area in which I have confidence. I KNOW how to hook 8th graders, and my state scores prove that my teaching style is effective.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am an ardent optimist and I spread joy freely. I create a classroom where my students feel safe and valued... if only for 48 minutes a day. My goal is to design lessons that INSPIRE, from my selections of the novel The Outsiders to the poem "The Road Not Taken". It is my weekly quotes and teaching of "Dead Poets Society" that leave my students believing they can overcome any difficulties and find joy.
