2005-2008 -London, UK at a special needs school for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. 2008-2012 -West side of Chicago, IL at a Turn-Around School teaching self-contained/resource special education. 2012-Present - South side of Chicago, IL at a Turn-Around School teaching self-contained special education - I have experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities; developmental delay, autism, learning disabled, ADD, ADHD, Mild/Moderate Cognitive disabilities, apraxia, emotional disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder. I also have had experience with students that were identified with mental health needs such as bi-polar, depression, attachment disorders, post-traumatic stress, and anxiety disorders. - In addition to having experience working with the special needs population I also have experience in the general education setting co-teaching grades 3-5th in Science. I have also created and implemented supports for Response to Intervention.
Differentiated instruction using multiple modalities of learning styles. I use strategies from Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion to support behavior, instruction, and classroom culture.
