I've been a teacher in some way, shape or form for the last 16 years. I started my career as a pre-school teacher, managing a 4 year old classroom. I have taught in both private and public school settings as well as with general and special education settings. Although I've changed schools a number of times, I've been lucky to work with every grade from kindergarten to 6th grade.
I'm a huge proponent of cooperative learning. I love having kids share ideas in groups and watch them develop their own rules and methods for problem solving. My favorite subject to teach is math, but I love science, social studies and language arts as well.
One of my students gave me the "best math teacher EVER!" award last year. It isn't a real award, but I'll take it.
I have a bachelor's in child development and family studies from West Virginia University. I completed my Master's in special education at Loyola College, and a Master's Certificate in data driven decision making from George Mason. I'm currently working on a Phd in educational psychology at George Mason.
I'm married and recently adopted the most amazing little boy! We also have 2 springer spaniel puppies. My house is very loud and busy!
