My teaching career began when I taught private vocal and guitar lessons to help pay my college tuition. I continued teaching privately until my first child was born. I began my professional teaching experience as a 5th-8th grade band & choir director in 2012. I also was the assistant director of a middle school Drama program and became extremely interested in set design and visual arts. I decided to switch to the elementary classroom in 2015 and haven't turned back since! I currently teach K-5 general Music and Art in a Title I school district in Colorado.
Because I was not always a high-achieving student, myself, I have a deep compassion for students who do not excel in the academic classroom. I thrived in music and art classes throughout my school experience and I firmly believe that music and art were the reasons I continued to attend school throughout high school. Therefore, I absolutely believe in the importance and necessity of the arts in public education. I strive to accommodate diverse learners and challenge my students regularly. I promote artistic expression and appreciate each student as an individual.

In 2010 I received my B.A. in Music Education. After teaching for 3 years I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Special Education. I earned my M.Ed. degree in Special Education in 2015, with an emphasis in Online Education.
As the mother of two little boys, a wife, and a teacher, I keep myself pretty busy. When I do have free time, I enjoy hiking Colorado's beautiful 14ers and reading a good fiction novel.
