I started my teaching career in Minnesota substitute teaching at a variety of schools for a few years. After a little break, when I taught toddlers, I got a job teaching grade 4 for a year. The following few years I taught grades 3 and 2 at a school in the suburbs of Minneapolis. When my husband and I decided to move to Australia, I went back to school for my Masters degree. For the past year, while studying, I have been substitute teaching at various schools in Queensland, AU!
I love creating meaningful learning experiences for students and engaging parents and families in the learning process. I enjoy creating resources to use with students based on their needs and interests. Many of my resources may be simple but I have found that sometimes simple is just what I needed in my classroom (we all know there can be so much craziness that happens there already)!
Yet to be added
For my undergraduate degree I attended Wartburg College in Iowa, USA. My major was elementary education however I completed elective coursework focusing on literacy and special education. Additionally, I attained a reading endorsement from Hamline University in Minnesota, USA. Most recently, I am working on getting a Masters of Educational Studies focusing on Leadership from The University of Queensland in AU.
I have a love of traveling and I have been blessed with a husband who shares my love with me. My goal is to continue to grow and learn as a teacher while also taking time to travel and learn about different cultures. I am excited to see where this next year takes us!
