I obtained my Teaching Social Sciences degree from Brigham Young University in 2014. I completed my student teaching in Washington D.C. at Columbia Heights Educational Campus. The training I received at the best public high school in Washington D.C. has strongly influenced my style of teaching and awareness of effective strategies. I started my teaching career in Las Vegas, NV at an inner city school. I was challenged every day and I embraced the growth mindset attitude to thrive in the environment. I have taught AP U.S. History, U.S. Government, and regular U.S. History for juniors and seniors. I look forward to more teaching experiences and for more opportunities to share ideas with teachers.
Benjamin Franklin said, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn." This quote represents who I am as a teacher because my teaching style reflects projects, simulations, and hands on learning through experiences. I also spend a significant amount of time building classroom community as my primary way to have strong classroom management skills.
