TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught special education for 5 years. My students were on an alternative curriculum. Often their reading levels were at a preK level but they were required to learn standards from 3-8th grade levels. I make materials that address higher level standards at lower reading levels. I also write high interest, low reading level books for the students to read as independently as possible.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I organized my classroom into sessions so that each of my students received one on one individual instruction on their own levels and IEP goals.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My students had excellent pass rates on their alternative assessments. This was largely due to my well designed assessments as well as my students' hard work!

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelor of Science in Education: intervention specialist (k-12) Master of Arts: severe / multiple disabilities
