I have been working as a School Learning Support Officer (Educational Officer) for 10+ Years, working mostly in small groups with explicit literacy teaching. I have also worked with individual students with Speech (articulation Exercises and activities) and Language Skills. I have had the opportunity to work from Kindergarten all the way put to Highschool. Classroom support and also one to one lessons. I have lots of love for Reading and encourage this is all my students. To encourage more reading in the students I volunteer in our local libraries Organising Activities for school Holidays.
All students need to feel that no matter what their abilities are, they are 'able' to achieve all they want. Working with students with learning difficulties over the years, building their self esteem is very important in building rapport and encouraging work involvement for students. Students who feel they are progressing well in work and receive positive reinforcement on their efforts will keep going to achieve their goals. My role is to be able to support them to reach their goals.
