I'm currently a PhD student studying curriculum and instruction with a focus in literacy. I taught high school English for 7 years and currently work with preservice teachers. I've worked with Writers in the Schools, Teach for America, Pearson, and ETS. I've also scored the SAT Essay, TOEFL Speaking test, and written items for the PARRC assessment. I am a proud team member of WeNeedDiverseBooks.org.
I teach ELA skills using contemporary and relevant short stories that engage students. In particular, I believe students benefit by reading stories by and about writers of color.
