I have my Initial Oregon Teaching License (grades 3-8) and ESOL/Bilingual endorsement. I am a former ELL Teacher (grades 6-8). Courses I've taught include: English Language Development (ELD) for ELL students at Early Intermediate to Advanced levels, Newcomer Science for Beginning ELLs, Sheltered Science for Early Intermediate and Intermediate ELLs, and a core curriculum of ELD, Sheltered Language Arts & Literature, and Sheltered Social Studies for Intermediate ELL students. I've created a work sample for my ESL Practicum on Poetry (6th grade) and a work sample on Nutrition (3rd grade) for my student teaching experience. I've completed SIOP training and attended many workshops on differentiation and writing. I also have experience working at a Montessori preschool and kindergarten.
I love to design hands-on activities that students can relate to their lives and encourage collaboration.
I graduated from Portland State University with a 4.0 GPA and was invited to be a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. I also received the Eleanor Hardt Memorial Scholarship in Teacher Education and a Teach for Diversity Scholarship.
I graduated from the Bilingual Teacher Pathway Program at Portland State University with a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education in 2009. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from University of Oregon in 2005. I also spent a semester abroad in Spain at Universidad de Oviedo in 2004.
I'm bilingual in Spanish and passionate about language and travel. I love working with children and helping them learn while they play.
