I have been teaching English as a Second Language in a variety of contexts since January of 2015. Toward the end of the summer of 2016, I began teaching 1-on-1 private ESL lessons. I fell in love with this method of language teaching and learning, and I've been a full-time online language teacher since that time. I am passionate about education, language, and culture.
My teaching style is very conversational and practical. Too often, ESL has been taught from a very theoretical perspective. My philosophy is that language is learned by actually "doing", as quickly as possible after learning a concept.
Summa Cum Laude - BA
I earned my BA from Spring Arbor University in foreign language, with a minor in cultural studies and ministry. I also took several ESL and education classes, although these classes did not directly count toward my degree. After completing my Bachelors, I earned a diploma in English Language Teaching from BridgeTEFL, an ACCET-recognized, American-based offshoot of Cambridge.
I love travel, self-education, and the great outdoors. I am happily married for the last 2+ years, and we have a dachshund. If I have a free weekend, I love camping, hiking, kayaking, and going for walks with my puppy, Winston. During my day-to-day downtime, I enjoy reading, or watching classic dramas or musicals. I sing in a local community choir, and I volunteer at a program for free ESL lessons each week.
