I am a dedicated educator with 25 years experience teaching Elementary Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education and Health.
I would describe my teaching style as positive, motivating, energetic, and respectful. I feel that children want to do well. They thrive on learning something new, practicing it and improving. In order for this to happen the children need a safe, positive classroom environment to learn. I create this by using the 3 Golden Rules used in my classroom: 1. We come to learn. 2.Try our best. 3.Be a great friend. From past experience, this positive environment is a successful one. What is a better motivator than being successful? This allows great things to happen. A physical educator needs to move with the children, through demonstration and participation; the children also feed off your excitement of an activity. By being energetic, I demonstrate the concepts of that I wish to inspire within my students. As educators we have an obligation to speak to our students respectfully. By serving as a positive role model, we show our children how to speak and act respectfully with others. I take great pride in the respectful and encouraging style I use with my students. It is my desire to be not only a person who instructs, but also a person who can also mentor my students in many aspects. My wish for all my students is to look back on their physical education experience and feel confident in their abilities that they can stay well, be fit and have a fearless heart when they go to “play”.
