I have been teaching first grade in Arizona for 4 years and I absolutely love it! I am thankful that I was coming into the career at the same time all the curriculum changes have been happening. I really saw a need to start creating my own products to use in the classroom so that I could up the rigor while still teaching the CCSS.
I try to make all my lessons as fun and hands on as I can. I teach at an accelerated school so I have to take the first and second grade standards and mash them together therefore upping the rigor. I also have a handful of gifted students so I try to create projects and critical thinking activities for them as well.
Teacher of the month: March 2011
I graduated from Central Michigan University in the spring of 2010. After graduation I accepted a job teaching 1st grade in Arizona.
