TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I was a migrant teacher for two years. Then I became a Reading Specialist for five years at a Title 1 elementary school in Michigan. After that I taught ESOL students at different elementary schools. Since then I was a READ 180 instructor for 7th and 8th graders. Next I taught fourth grade for two years and I am currently in my third year as a first grade teacher.This is where I developed and implemented my poetry to teach phonics.

Received teaching education at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I have Reading and ESOL endorsements on my teaching certificate.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have published two books called "Makini the Impala with a Crooked Horn" and "Video Gamer Vinnie". When I was a Reading Specialist I created Phonic workshops for teachers and instructional support staff. I instructed different techniques of a phonics program and modeled lessons in classrooms for teachers.
