I have been teaching pull-out reading groups since 2009 for grades K-6.
Although I am a Reading Teacher, I feel that it is essential that my lessons also teach students to be compassionate and appreciative. Last year, my students read an article on UNICEF. They were so stunned and saddened by the fact that girls do not always receive an education. They decided to do their part by starting a fundraiser to help UNICEF meet these needs. They opted to stay after school with me to work on this project. Inspiring students to be the best people they can be is my teaching style.
2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for my school
I have a master's degree in Reading Education from Appalachian State University and an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Western Carolina University.
Dr. Seuss inspires me. I love the quote "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
