Mrs VanMeter

I am a Christian woman, wife, mother of three beautiful children and have been called to educate children and use my knowledge and skills as an elementary school teacher. I am currently a kindergarten teacher in a small town in southern Indiana. I enjoy each and every day in my kindergarten classroom. I value leadership and am eager to lead in small collaborative groups in order to build relationships with my colleagues and community.I have been trained in Simple 6 Writing, Writer's Workshop, PBIS, Six Traits, DIBELS, mClass Math, reading strategies, Four Block, Literacy Groups, Literature Circles, and Simple 6 Math.

My teaching style integrates hands-on learning with independent strategies. We sing, dance, and move frequently during transitions to keep their little bodies busy. Small math groups and literacy rotations are both used for collaboration between peers. I enjoy data and technology.

I attended the University of Southern Indiana and graduated in 2004. I earned a Masters in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2008. I recently finished my Principal Leadership License.

I enjoy teaching units that involve a balance of reading and literacy skills that make connections in science, social studies and mathematics.
