I am experienced in helping students see the solar system from the ceiling in our classroom, find the geometry in a school building, seek power in SAT vocabulary, and explore the space and time continuum via the pages of a book. Whoa, you just have to love teaching! I have taught students at the elementary and secondary levels. I have also served as a High School facilitator, Principal, Adult Education Instructor, and District Coordinator. I currently support teachers through my work as an Educational Consultant with Tree Top Secret Education. I am a Certified Continuing Professional Education Provider, an authorized Google Helpouts Provider, and a mentor of teachers with the University of Phoenix.
My teaching style is that of a facilitator. When I provide students with building blocks they are capable of constructing their own knowledge. Hands-on and minds-on is where it's at for me.
I have presented for Discovery Education. I have written guest posts for Edutopia and ASCD. I was selected to serve on a pilot study for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Marilyn Burns. My curriculum design won a $30,000 Grant Award from the Texas Department of Agriculture. I negotiated license agreements from Pearson Education for the Texas Education Agency.
I have a M. Ed. with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
