I taught 6th-12th grades in a residential treatment facility for five years, and 7th-9th grades in a regular public school classroom for the last five years. I have taught U.S. History, World History, Geography, Civics, and Economics. Currently, I am homeschooling my preschool and kindergarten age kids and have begun to develop resources with homeschool families in mind!
My teaching style is based around interactive discussion and inquiry. I strive to incorporate a variety of teaching techniques into my lessons in order to meet the needs of diverse learners with a variety of learning styles. I like to use technology, art, visual information, kinetic activities, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and games to help my students understand new information. I believe that students should be challenged to think for themselves and to meet high expectations. I also believe in fun and humor in the classroom.
