During my undergrad student teaching semester I lived and taught in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, for two months. This will be my first year in my own classroom.
I am a musical learner and so I tend to sway that way with my teaching: lots of patterns, mnemonic devices, poems, songs, etc. I try to vary my teaching to hit on the other learning styles too. I know how much more I learn and retain when I do something that incorporates my dominant intelligence-- all the more reason to vary instruction for my students! I am a student of constructivism. Most of what I do stems from that; however, I am flexible to learn and try new methods.
I graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and received my 4/5 endorsement from Walsh University in 2012. I am licensed K-5.
I am married to my high school sweetheart. I have two funny, fat cats. I like goofy movies, loud music and witty folks. I enjoy tent camping, bike riding and roller coastering. Also, I am addicted to Pinterest.
