TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Teaching License for secondary science attained in 2014. Endorsements in general science, middle school social studies and sciences, high school biology and Earth and Space Science. Been educating Middle and High School science since 2014 with courses that include: Biology 1, Biology 2, MS Earth and Space Science, Physics, HS Integrated Science, and Study Skills (for science interpretation). I am in preparation of teaching Dual Credit Biology course for HS/ Jr. College. Currently teaching Biology courses at the junior college level, and I taught at the University level as a teaching assistant from 2011-2013. Experience teaching in many classroom settings: 6-12 Inclusion science classes, higher education face-to-face, online, and I'll be teaching my first hybrid course this summer.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to be more discussion oriented, and I try to use labs and activities often. I use labs, videos and related readings to guide discussion and set the framework for the students' "notes." Students complete several projects that require building models and writing lab reports based on long and short term experiments that they have developed to gather and analyze data. Many of these projects address multiple unit standards simultaneously. I am also utilizing the flipped classroom model with college students to make more discussion based lecture and more inquiry based lab
