I've taught for the Stockton Unified School District for 11 years. I started teaching 6th and when the district switched to a k-12 system I was asked to move up and teach a 7th grade GATE class. I was then invited by another school to join their staff for an 8th grade Algebra position where I am to this day. I have also served on tech committees and a math adoption committee.
I believe in pro-active classroom management. That is how i began creating PowerPoints several years ago. PowerPoints allow me to think through a lesson thoroughly before presenting it. This has greatly reduced the behavior issues I experienced as a young teacher. I believe all students can learn and want to please, some of them just don't know it yet.
Students have written me letters about how I make learning math fun and engaging.
I received my B.A. in Liberal Studies from Stanislaus State University of California. I also received my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential fro Stan. State (Turkey Tech). I am currently pursuing my Masters in Multiple Pathways and 21st Century Skills at San Joaquin Teacher's College in Stockton.
