I have worked as a PALs remediation specialist for two years. I have been a licensed teacher for the past 5 years. I have taught students with mild/moderate disabilities spanning many disabilities. My first two years in the classroom were in the high school setting. My next three years were as a middle school special educator in civics/economics and English. I currently work in the juvenile detention setting where I teach Reading and Special Education.
I am a hands-on teacher. I like to use activities that encourage my students to engage in the curriculum and not just sit and read notes or listen to me talk about what we will learn today.
To date I have not received any awards.
Undergraduate from Old Dominion University in Special Education and a Master's Degree from Regent University in Reading. Currently working on my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership at Virginia Tech.
I am the wife of a United Methodist pastor. We have two dogs and enjoy hiking and exploring the mountains.
