TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2010. In these short 2 years (seems like forever!) I have gained so much experience! I have learned so much about life and teaching through the amazing students I have shared this journey with so far. I taught a year and a half of 5th grade (entered my position at the middle of the year), and am currently teaching my first year of 4th.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I enjoy using a lot of technology and higher order thinking throughout my lessons. I have been told that I have a very "relaxed" and "laid back" teaching style, and the because of this I am able to make my classroom a very warm and comforting environment. I take great pride in my planning and creating new ideas and activities for my lessons.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Teaching is my second career. I exited college planning on continuing a path of child counselling. I married my high school sweetheart shortly after college. While searching for that "perfect" job, I worked as an administrative assistant for a major corporation for 3 years. About to give up all hope, I was inspired by another teacher in the family to return to school to obtain my post bacc. degree in elementary education. I love live music, camping, hiking, and spending time with my wonderful husband and two dogs.
