This is my 16th year teaching 6th grade language arts. Our building was once a middle school with double blocks of time for language arts. We are now a junior high with half the teaching time and many, many more students! I recently read that 'change is inevitable, but growth is optional.' So I have made the choice to grow throughout the changes in our district as well as those at the state and national level.
I pay attention to presentation. I am always looking for engaging ways and materials to hook my students. I figure as long as I have their attention, we can learn together.
I have been lucky and appreciative of the recognition I have received in my district. But my shining moment has to be earning my National Boards in November 2008.
I was born to learn and teach. I was a student who 'did' school. I loved it and still do. I never stopped attending school! I earned my bachelors in elementary education from Cleveland State University, Cleveland Ohio. I earned my masters from The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. I earned a separate reading endorsement from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.
I thrive on the creative end of curriculum planning. I love creating handouts, presentations, lessons, and units. To share my resources is second nature. I hope you enjoy!
