I have three years experience as a teaching artist; where I have created lesson plans that center source material around Black poetry, music, and film to teach history and literacy. I have one year teaching experience in a high school setting, currently teaching English w. Honors at the high school level.
I love creating a workshop environment with my students. I find it places less pressure on them when they are able to have ownership in their academics. I challenge my students to think both critically and creatively, which fosters their intellectual curiosity. The use of music, poetry, and film, allows them to see history and literacy in everything around them.

I have facilitated creative writing workshops around Louisiana and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
