Students have a spot to record the do now (which I call a "Biology Box"). I then give students stamps at the end of class for completion of the biology box, homework, and commitments to learning. These points are then used for participation points
After studying the human body systems, students are asked to do two parts to show understanding of how diseases affect each body system and how body system affect each other.
Part 1: Exploring how diseases affect the human body system.

In this 20 minute activity, students are building vocabulary fluency! I love to use this activity as a "pre" and "post" unit formative assessment- Which vocabulary words do students already know? Which do they not know?
Teacher directions are
Students are given four inheritance problems to solve. Each problem is either simple dominance, incomplete dominance, co-dominance, or x-linked. Students write evidence and reasoning for which type of inheritance the problem is exhibiting.
Students are told a definition and need to find the matching word on their BINGO board! This one is specialized for chemistry of life and cell biology (types of cells, parts of cells, and macromolecules). 29 words and a free space are included.
