TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 1995. I began my career in a bilingual school teaching in Spanish. I have also worked in inner city schools and schools with high levels of poverty and significant ELL populations. I was also a GATE teacher for a few years. I then worked as a Teacher coach for a few years. As a teacher mentor I have delivered professional development sessions for teachers in Gifted and Talented, reading, writing, ELL techniques, technology and social studies. I mentored teachers through the National Board process as well. This year I am heading back to the classroom to teach 5th grade, and I couldn't be more excited! Returning to the classroom has fired up my creative side, and I'm producing new TPT resources every week!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to bring in inquiry to all subjects. My goal is always to build capacity and independence in my students. I utilize reading and writing workshop, lots of small group and individual instruction, and a constructivist approach in math, science and social studies.
