I love research of all kinds (including family history!) and have over 20 years experience. I use that experience for teaching my own kids, as well as other children and adults. I have worked in an elementary school in several departments such as: Special Ed/Inclusion/Resource, K-5 Tutoring, Computer Tech, for five years. I tutored ESL adults and I co-taught a creative writing college class.
I believe in engaging the student and trying to explain things on their level of learning, which is where my research experience really comes in handy. I find out what it is that will appeal to that particular group or student, and I research ways, creative lessons, to engage that unique learning style. I like smaller groups in order to be able to relate to each student and have a little one-on-one time during the little time I have them. I also like to reinforce the idea by helping them make connections in unique ways they might not think of.
I won 1st place in the manuscript composition contest for the Walter Prescott Webb Historical Society for my history of the Orcoquisa Indians at the Spanish Mission in Anahuac, TX.
Associates Degree in the Arts, Graduated with Honors from the Honors Humanities Program.
