I have been an Art Education teacher for over 15 years. I taught Art in the public schools in North Carolina. My Bachelors degree is in Fine Arts and I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology. After teaching so many students with learning challenges, developmental and cognitive, mental health issues and on the autism spectrum I became interested in psychology. I have combined my experience as an Art teacher and Counseling Psychology to present lessons for teachers to reach students of all abilities and grade levels. I have also offered classroom management tips in all of my lessons. Enjoy!
My teaching style is "hands-on". Most students enjoy Art class. Where some have failed in academic subjects they shine in the creative arts. The art lessons offered here include the Math, Reading and Language Arts found in Common Core Standards. These lessons include Art History backgrounds providing students with social studies and historical knowledge. Art can be all inclusive of academic subjects including science, social studies, math, reading, language arts as the teacher desires to extend the lessons to include these areas. As students become successful creating artwork, their self-esteem increases. Learning can be fun and the Art Lessons here will provide students of all levels of ability with an outlet for imagination and creativity.
