I have nineteen years of experience. I have been a (K-5) math facilitator for seven years and a 3rd grade classroom teacher for six. Three of my 6 years as a third grade teacher, I departmentalized teaching mainly math, science, and social studies. Currently, I am a K-5 GT Specialist. While being a GT Specialist, this allows me to sponsor a math club and Mathletes at my school.
When teaching I listen to students' misconceptions, and build my lessons around struggles that students may have had. I aspire to reach all learners' needs by providing differentiated instruction. I also seek to provide challenging instruction and tasks which focus on having students explain their thinking. My products come from struggles that I notice students having or challenges that I think students need to further their understanding of math concepts.
