TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach Visual Arts to grades Pk-5. I have also taught art at the middle school level and teach a Gifted/Talented extracurriculuar arts program for grades 3-8. Outside of school I do private and small group art instruction both in my home and in a studio. I am currently working on building up my personal portfolio, which has a variety of media, from 2-D paintings and drawings to 3-D ceramics.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I teach all the various aspects of Art Education- art history, studio concepts, techiques and skills, art criticism, art vocabulary, creativity, multiculturism, etc. etc! I love teaching my students to become independent learners and giving them the tools they need to become great artists. I believe that every child is an artist- some just need a little extra time and support to develop their artistic skills!

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My art students have won various ribbons and awards of merit through local art shows and competitions. Our school murals were honored in the Goose Creek Gazette in 2011. Coastal Carolina Fair Art Show: 1st place and 3rd place, 2011. 1st place, 2nd place, and 3rd place, 2010. Judge's Merit Ribbon, 2009, $30 prize. Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition: 2 Honorable Mentions, 2011 North Charleston Arts Festival: 1st place ribbon, 2011. 1st place ribbon, 2010. 1st place ribbon, 2009
