Currently, I'm an 8th grade English language arts teacher in a small district in central IL. Previously, I worked as an RtI interventionist and coordinator for seven year. My passion area is secondary ELA, but I have had experiencing working with students of all ages in a variety of subject matter.
I believe that all students can learn, but learning looks different for each student--so teaching can and should look different for each student too! I believe there is a way to reach every, single student, and that finding "the way" is part of the excitement of being an educator. I believe in treating students with respect and genuinely listening to what they have to say.

I graduated from a small central Illinois high school in 2004, as the valedictorian of my class. I went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2004-2008, earning a degree in English and graduated magna cum laude. I have just finished a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, plus an ESL teaching endorsement, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
I am a single mother of one daughter. In my free time, I read, write and bake!
