I have taught English at the high school level since 2005. I taught reading, English, and mathematics at the junior high level for two years prior. In the meantime, I earned one MA in English and another in Reading and Literacy, and I have taught part time at the junior college level since 2008. I have also been heavily involved in curriculum development with the most current emphasis being Common Core alignment.
Most of my assignments are differentiated and/or writing centered. Many of my assignments have some technology integration. I am in the process of aligning all of my materials to the Common Core. All of my materials include the applicable Common Core ELA standards. My materials range the sixth through twelfth grade levels.
I was awarded a district technology leader award in 2011. I have been accepted to speak at two Illinois Computing Educators conferences (2010-2011), Illinois State University Connections Conference (2011), and the National Council of Teachers of English conference (2011) about technology integration in the English classroom. My classroom was profiled among two others in a Teaching Tolerance article that is being published in the winter edition.
